Printing Industries Queensland PICA Call For Entries - 29/7/2008

Calls for entries for the 15th Queensland PICAs have gone out and Printing Industries Queensland President Susan Heaney is confident that 2008 will see even more entries across all categories than in previous years.

Several positive changes to the awards structure support this confidence, including the exciting new approach to entries in the National Print Awards where only Gold Medal winners in the various state awards can participate.  Companies can now be assured that winning gold at the Queensland PICAs puts them in line for what is now genuinely a “best of the best” contest in the nationals.

Despite huge changes in terms of technology and structure our industry is still primarily made up of small businesses and the Queensland PICAs will feature a new category for entries of any type from businesses with fewer than 10 staff.  An additional new category caters for those businesses of any size or type that have never before entered the Awards and would like to take a “toe in the water” approach.

These changes could be the start of something big for many businesses – just ask some of the regular current winners who had modest PICA beginnings.

Entries in the 2008 Queensland PICAs close on 19 September. The Awards Presentation Dinner will be held at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre on Friday 28 November. With Printing Industries in Queensland celebrating 120 years of service to the industry in 2008, the theme for the Awards Presentation Dinner will be “early 1900s” and guests have the option of showing off their best  “Roaring 20s” wardrobes.
