A World Without Print? No Way! - 12/3/2007

Can you imagine a world without print? No way and Printing Industries has just released an industry promotional film that makes this very point.

The film made its debut on 8 March at the inaugural Industry leaders Forum in Sydney featuring guest of honour Federal Minister for Industry, Tourism and Resources, the Honourable Ian Macfarlane.

It will be released to the industry and will be the hub of a printing industry promotion to high schools throughout Australia.

Printing Industries National Communication and Technical Services Manager, Joe Kowalewski, said the film was designed for multi purpose usage.

Joe K“Broadly speaking it’s an educational film for everyone, but it has specifically targeted viewing markets supported by a selection menu on the DVD itself,” he said.

"It’s an induction tool for new employees in the industry, a lobbying tool with government and, very importantly, a recruitment tool to encourage young people into industry careers.

“The film has a recruitment section featuring a range of people, from production staff through to sales, marketing and prepress people, informally discussing their careers.

“Our goal is to show the great diversity of career options available and make our industry a first choice option. This industry offers great careers for all school leavers, male or female, regardless of whether their interest is in production, IT, management, sales, marketing or any of the array of occupations available.”

The film heavily plays on the important role of print in everyone’s’ lives which most people take for granted. The opening sequence begins with the statement:  “Print gives life to everything it touches. The printing industry is the centre of modern communication making an impact on everyone’s lives - every day - in everything we do.”   Full story in the February edition of PRINT21 magazine out now.

The film will be given to all Printing Industries members on DVD at no cost. It can also be purchased and is available for online viewing here.
