Printing Industries to be part of training awards history - 6/3/2006
The search for Queensland's training achievers began today with the opening of nominations in the 2006 Queensland Training Awards.

Members of Queensland's printing industries are encouraged to nominate for the awards this year.

2006 marks 45 years of recognising excellence in training - a milestone for the vocational education and training sector.

Minister for Employment, Training and Industrial Relations, Mr Tom Barton,  said the training awards acknowledge the achievements of those who have made significant contributions towards the skilling of Queensland workers and industry.

"I encourage all Queenslanders engaged in our world-class vocational education and training sector to become involved in the 2006 training awards and be a part of our proud history," he said.

Queensland's printing industry is also being urged to get involved in the awards this year and receive recognition for their contributions to the skilling of Queenslanders.

Employer finalists receive recognition and publicity from their local community and industry as being acknowledged as industry leaders and setting benchmarks for future smart training initiatives.

Student finalists can make excellent contacts within their industries, establish strong foundations for their future careers and win great prizes.

Proudly presented by the Department of Employment and Training, the Queensland Training Awards are the state's highest honour for training, recognising apprentices, trainees, vocational students, employers, schools, training providers and others committed to training.

State winners are eligible to compete at the prestigious Australian Training Awards, which will be held in Adelaide later this year.

To be part of Queensland's proud training history, call 1800 660 207 or visit www.qta.qld.gov.au. Nominations close on Friday 31 March 2006.
