Greater use of innovation and a higher standard of entries have been hallmarks of this year’s Employers Mutual 2012 NSW Printing Industries Craftsmanship Awards (PICA) judging.
Printing Industries National Director, Communications and Marketing, Joe Kowalewski, said the overall number of entries was slightly up on 2011.
“This is a great result considering that the industry is still undergoing consolation and we had expected as slight fall in numbers rather than a slight increase,” he said.
“We have also had entries from several ‘first time’ companies and a far greater emphasis on innovation and high quality production – both characteristics that were not as evident in 2011.
“I think the summary from our judges standards, innovation and the impact of digital printing will make for interesting listening at the awards dinner.”
The presentation dinner will be held in the Parkside Ballroom at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour from 6.30pm on 2 November.
